I am a supporter of the rights of Utahns to own and responsibly use firearms. I also recognize the danger that guns present, particularly when obtained by children or those with criminal intent or mental illnesses.
I stand with the majority of Utahns who believe that it is worth looking at clear, evidence-based policies that would help to reduce the numbers of firearm related homicides, suicides, and accidental deaths. We can find meaningful solutions that still protect the rights of responsible gun owners, while at the same time saving lives.
